The Royal Tour: Ceylon -- Colombo Harbour: Colombo is the capital of Ceylon and is familiar to all travellers to the Far East and Australia as a port of call. The town lies on the West coast; its artificial harbour was built by the British, the first stone of its 4000 ft. long breakwater having been laid by Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales. This view of the Harbour was taken from Colombo Yacht Club. In the foreground European city men and their families prepare for a regatta on a Saturday afternoon. In the background, shipping from all parts of the world. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will arrive in, Colombo on 10th April and leave on 13th April, 1954. April 12, 1954.
