Factory-Ship Gets Ready For Antarctic At Southampton.Radar equipment aboard the "Balaena".Final preparations for Britain's first post-War Whaling expedition are being made at Southampton following the arrival there of the whaling factory-ship "Balaena". She has been to Norway to sign-on Norwegian sailors for the expedition. The "Balaena" leaves seen for Capetown, South Africa, on the first stage of her voyage to the Antarctic. In addition to the Whalers, the ship will have on board a party of Government scientists who are to test the food value of whale meat whilst the expedition deals with about 1,500 whales.
