New York, New York: February 15, 1922 French aviatrix Jane Hervieux greets her mother aboard the S.S. Rochambeau in NY. Her mother is coming here to be her daughter's first student at the Curtis School of Flying on Long Island. Jane Hervieux went on to instruct the New York State Police Air Squadron and gave lessons to Amelia Earhart. She was the first woman to take up flying as a profession.
