Doomed Liner -- This new picture of the Doomed French Liner Champollion just received in London today December 24th, shows many persons gathered on the Lebanese Coast watching rescue attempts December 23rd.The 12,546-ton Liner which was carrying pilgrims to the Holy Land for Christmas, broke in two on a sand-bank 300 yards off the Lebanese Coast, December 22nd.After all other attempts at rescue had failed, Captain Baltaji, chief pilot at Beirut, made a daring trip in his motor-boat through heavy seas to the wreck and ferried 50 people ashore.
