U. S. Anti-Aircraft Battery - Shows Teamwork In Action -- The director station of a battery of U.S. Army anti-aircraft artillery combines mechanical and electrical ingenuity with speed work on the part of a highly trained crew. The artillery-man at the left, field telephone in hand, is in touch with the flank spotting station, getting reports on the accuracy of the fire. Next to him, the azimuth tracker follows the target with the director. Top rear: The observer who notes the flight of the enemy aircraft, then the elevation tracker, the auxiliary point matcher and the altitude point matcher. The latter keeps the pointers on this part of the director identical with the readings set electrically by the height finder. February 01, 1943. (Photo by Interphoto News Pictures, Inc.).
